Shillong, Dec 3 (IANS): A police constable and his daughter in Meghalaya sustained bullet injuries after suspected rebels of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) opened indiscriminate fire, police said on Friday.

Goelson Marak, an armed branch constable and his five-year-old daughter Kadime Sangma sustained bullets on their legs when the rebels fired indiscriminately at the house in Rimrangpara village Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district late Thursday night, police said

Inspector General of Police (Western Range) GHP Raju said initial investigations revealed that the GNLA had planned to abduct Marak but when he refused to open the main door of his house, the rebels fired at his house injuring him and his daughter.

The condition of the injured people are said to be stable.
