GUWAHATI, Feb 27 � Even thopugh more than three days have passed since two persons were shot dead by the PSO of a businessman under mysterious circumstances in the city�s Down Town area, police is yet to zero in on the exact cause that had led to the shocking incident.
Police, had immediately arrested five persons in connection with the incident, but is yet to effect any breakthrough in the murder mystery.
Two persons were killed in the wee hours of Thursday near Mathuranagar area after Hariprasanna Hazarika, a Sivasagar-based businessman and his personal security officer Pankaj Arandhara opened fire killing two persons, who according to the businessman came to attack him. However, primary investigation indicated it to be a fallout of a business rivalry, though no concrete evidence could be gathered by the police to back its claim.
Senior Superintendent of Police (City) Deepak Choudhury, when asked, said, �There is no such development into the case as yet and we are still pursuing the clues we have laid hands on during primary investigation.�
Another official of the Assam Police has stated that as Hariprasanna Hazarika is still undergoing treatment, he could not be questioned by the investigators, which is delaying the investigation.
Hazarika is one of the five persons arrested in this connection.
While, speculations are also trying to add a romance angle to the twin murder, police, however, is reluctant to buy the statement as of now. It is also awaiting the forensic examination report of the samples collected from the crime scene, which is expected to help the ongoing investigation.
The SSP (City) had earlier stated that they are exploring all angles that could have led to the incident. Investigators have also cast serious doubts on the credibility of the earlier statements given by Hazarika.
