By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

DIBRUGARH, Sept 20 - The police have rejected the claim of a local journalist that he was attacked by some unidentified persons when he was riding a motorcycle on his way back home. Ripunjoy Das, editor of a local news publication, was admitted to the ICU at a nearby hospital on Friday night with some injuries near his right eye.

The local police, following an investigation, rejected his claim saying that his statement was not true. According to the police, Ripunjoy Das was drunk and met with an accident. He fell on the ground and had a head injury. The cut mark on his forehead was of his spectacles, which crushed when he fell from his two-wheeler.

The passers-by helped him get up and he went home, said Naba Kumar Borah, officer in-charge of Sadar Police Station. Later, he was admitted to a hospital, he added.
