It may be mentioned here that the villagers of border areas like Khepre, Tongikro, Koladisa, Bonkai, Pedik, etc., had been demanding a police station or police patrol post in these villages as miscreants from across the State border created nuisance on several occasions.

On February 8, when the villagers were celebrating Hangsew Busu, four miscreants claiming to be members of the Dima Hasao National Army created an unpleasant situation. The villagers thrashed them, leading to the death of one miscreant. Two others were seriously injured, while the fourth miscreant managed to escape.

After the incident, the villagers began to feel unsafe and approached the authorities. As a result, the police patrol post has come up at Khepre to provide security to the villagers of these areas bordering Nagaland.

Joben Rajiyung, gaonburah of Khepre village, expressed satisfaction over the establishment of the new patrol post and said that the villagers had felt very insecure after the incident at Tongikro. He thanked the authorities concerned for initiating the steps to establish the police patrol post for the safety and security of the border villagers.
