GUWAHATI, Aug 13 � Assam Police Blues and Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club shared points playing goal less draw in the GSA Super league football for the Abhishek Motors RG Baruah trophy. In an entertaining encounter at the Nehru Stadium here today, both the teams were in offensive mood from the very begtining and initiated several goal bound moves.
FCI boys in particular were in good form and forced the policemen to fall back on several occasions. Their mid fielders Birdwm Basumatary, Taker Hmar and Kailash Gogoi controlled the mid field properly and fed their strikers Biswamittra Basumatary and Edenthara quite frequently. Midway through the second session Edenthara missed the easiest scoring opportunity of the match as he failed to hit home from a handshaking distance.
But Policemen Rishikesh Medhi and Rabijit Jigdung were unlucky on two occasions as their shots hit the cross piece in the 59th and 67th minutes respectively. Once FCI goal keeper Govbinda Boro made a good save early in the second session off a sharp shot taken by police forward Karuna Gayary.
A Div: City Police out played Rajbari Athletic Club 3-1 in the Jibeswar Goswami A Division Football League.
Rajbari were leading 1-0 till the 72nd minute of the match through the goal scored by L Domen Singh in the 18th minute. But three snap goals in the 72nd, 74th and 75th minutes by Amulya Das (two) and Pranab Das changed the complexion of the match.
