By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 17 - Police today conducted a search in the office premises of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) here. Prime accused Rakesh Paul and Pabitra Kaibartta were also taken to the APSC office by police and asked to help locate a few things.

Paul will be produced before the Special Court, Assam (Guwahati) tomorrow after the expiry of 14 days police remand.

APSC member Ranjit Barthakur, secretary, Palash Ranjan Gharfaliya were quizzed by investigators today and later allowed to go. Til Bahadur Chetri, personal assistant of Basanta Doley, another member of the Commission, who has been on the run, was also questioned by the police.

Earlier today, Doley moved the Gauhati High Court seeking anticipatory bail. However, his application was withdrawn by his counsel and hence the question of securing interim relief does not arise.

Special Public Prosecutor BK Mahajan, when asked whether Doley could be arrested, said, I cannot answer this as it would depend on the materials collected by the investigating officer. However, his arrest looks imminent at this stage.
