BONGAIGAON, June 11 � Police today arrested one Pranab Ray (22), son of Akan Ray, a railway employee, from his residence at Hatiutra in Bongaigaon in connection with the murder of Nirmal Ray (42), a trader and resident of the same locality who was found murdered in his residence on June 7 morning.
Nirmal�s body, which was found lying on his bed with two legs touching the ground, bore two deep holes on the neck with marks of strangulation by metal wires. His hands were tied behind with a piece of cloth.
Based on an FIR lodged by the family members of the deceased, the police registered a case (no. 422/2015) under Section 302 of the IPC at Bongaigaon Police Station and had picked up suspects, including the wife of the deceased, from Hatiutra locality for interrogation and, thus, got the leads linked to the murder, police sources said.
A source closed to the family of the deceased believe that Pranab�s statements in the police custody would unveil the mystery behind the murder and identity of other culprits, if any, involved in the crime.
