Police arrest 2 APS, 1 allied service officers

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 20 - The City Police today rearrested two Assam Police Service (APS) officials and an allied service official in connection with the Bhangagarh police station case (159/17) related to appointment of agriculture development officers (ADOs) against payment of cash under the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

The three officials tax superintendent Vikash Pincha and APS officers Kunal Das and Kaushik Das were already in judicial custody after being arrested by Dibrugarh police in the APSC cash-for-job scam.

Investigating officer and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) Subhasish Baruah, when contacted, confirmed the arrests stating that the Court of Special Judge, Assam has allowed four-day police custody for the three accused.

Sources informed that the trio acted as middlemen between APSC office-bearers and the candidates who were willing to pay huge amount of cash for securing government jobs.

APSC chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul and member Samedur Rahman have already been arrested in connection with the case.

Investigators claimed that as many as 27 ADOs who had appeared in the written examination for the post of ADOs in 2014 and the oral test in 2015 secured jobs through backdoor.
