Police action against Pijush Hazarika initiated: Morigaon SP

Morigaon, April 3: Police swung into action in connection with the FIR lodged by two Jagiroad based journalists namely Nazrul Islam and Tulsi Manta who alleged in the complaint that Minister of State for Health and BJP candidate in Jagiroad LAC Pijush Hazarika threatened them with dire consequences at about 1 pm on April 1 when they were busy in poll coverage on that day.

Dr. Nanda Sing Borkola, Superintendent of Police, Morigaon told this correspondent today that in connection with the FIR of journalists a criminal case was registered at Jagiroad PS and mobile handsets of two journalists were taken into police custody along with the seizure of the Minister's mobile phone.

Borkola further said that the statements of two journalists were recorded and notices were issued to the Minister in connection with the case. The Minister was also asked to come to Jagiroad PS for his statement, said Morigaon SP adding that Pijush Hazarika has agreed to come to the police station on Sunday.

Meanwhile, voice recording of the two mobile phones have been sent to forensic laboratory, Guwahati, the SP, Morigaon added.
