�PO agents contributing much to national coffers�

UDALGURI, Nov 12 - �Post office agents are contributing a lot to national coffers. They are the grass-root level people, spread across every nook and corner of the country and collecting savings of the common people for their better future.� This was the observation of A Patnayak, Senior Superintendent of Tezpur head post office in an awareness meet arranged at the Mangaldai Post Office auditorium recently to boost the morale of the agents, engaged in collecting small saving deposits under the post offices of Darrang and Udalguri post offices.

Addressing the agents of the two districts, Patnayak said that the cooperation of the post office agents to strengthen the national economy of the country was an important activity. The national schemes being run by the post office like recurring deposits, savings, national savings certificate, PPF, permanent savings, Kisan Vikas Patra, post office life insurance, Sukanya Vriddhi Scheme etc., could be brought to every citizen only via the agents of the post offices and their role in this regard is appreciable, he added.

Acknowledging the role of the agents, Dhiren Baishya, one of the senior most agents of Udalguri post office said that the engagement of agents by the post offices has helped to minimise the unemployment problem in the country as there is no limit fixed for the number of agents of post offices and they have been contributing a lot to create awareness among the villagers in remote areas. He also observed that the post offices have to reform some of its age-old existing rules in savings field and offer more facilities to its customers so that customers could avail facilities even at home.

The daylong meet was also addressed by D Sen, Assistant Superintendent of Tezpur zone, Niharendu Devnath, Head Post Master of Mangaldai Post Office, Lochan Goswami, Inspector of Post Offices of the zone on the occasion.
