PMs comments on triple talaq flayed

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Oct 25 - Reacting against Prime Minister Narendra Modis comments to put a ban on the triple talaq practice, noted Islamic thinker of North East, Maulana Ahmed Syed Gobindpuri said that it is very unfortunate that the Prime Minister has made such a comment.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, the Maulana claimed, There is a clear provision of triple talaq in the Shariat law and it is believed to be a doctrine of the holy Quran and if the Prime Minister decides to interfere on the issues of Muslim personal law, severe movement will be started against him. We are least bothered about whether the Prime Minister agrees or disagrees with the provisions of the Muslim personal law.

He added to say that there are many other issues which need immediate attention like settling the issue of allotment of patta to the landless people, providing jobs to the unemployed, which the government is ignoring. Rather, the government is seen busy in executing the eviction drive across the State which has badly hampered the poor traders.

Interestingly, the veteran Islamic thinker has nodded in favour of the governments move to provide citizenship to the displaced Hindus from Bangladesh. In the words of Gobindpuri, not just Bengali Hindus, even Bengali Muslims must also be accommodated in India and people must come together for a unified movement towards the cause.
