By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Aug 15 - The Viswa Shanti Sangathan, Assam after a threadbare discussion with its national organisation Viswa Shanti Sangathan, Bharat, having its headquarters at Ayodhya, UP has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce nano electric train service (toy train service) right from Udalguri via Bhairabkunda and Kalaktang to Bomdila, the district headquarters of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and a ropeway for the promotion of tourism in the backward remote areas along Bhutan and China borders.

Explaining the reason behind the demand, RR Sapkota, president of the Assam state committee of the national socio-cultural organisation in the letter written to the Prime Minister said that alongwith rest of the country, the people of Udalguri district too are aspiring to be part of the New India which should be started at the Ishan corner as has been said by the Prime Minister himself on earlier occasions. We would like to transform the whole border region of Bhairabkunda into a scenic tourist hub like Switzerland and as responsible citizens, we damand that the Prime Minister introduce the unique chuk-chuk Darjeeling toy train like Nano Electric Train service along the 162.6 kilometre route from Udalguri to Bomdila so that tourists, including those from abroad, can come throughout the season.

The Sangathan also demanded that a triangular-shaped cable car (ropeway) be set up between Samatdzonkha near Bhairabkunda connecting Kalaktang of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. The Sangathan said that it believes that if these two projects are set up by the Tourism Ministry, it would be a blessing to the thousands of educated unemployed youths of the whole region and it would turn the region into one of the most beautiful tourist hubs in the country. The letter to the Prime Minister also wished that since the Prime Minister is going to Thimpu to strengthen bilateral relations on August 17, both the governments should discuss this matter.

It is to be noted that the Viswa Shanti Sangathan, Assam is all set to organise an 11-day mega programme known as Makar Sankranti Bhairab Kumbh Pujan from January 5 to January 15 in 2020, in Bhairabkunda involving stakeholders from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Bhutan also. Devotional and cultural events like Shiva Puran, Kumari puja, community marriage of poor aspirants, Namami Dhansiri and Maha Mrityunjaya Paath by 108 Brahmins from across the country for the long life and health of nation and prayer for initiatives by Indians to make India a 'Viswa Guru' in true spirit will be undertaken. A massive management committee has also been formed to this effect and the preparations are in full swing now.
