PM has failed to deliver: Rahul

By Correspondent

NAGAON, March 5 - Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who arrived here on Friday and stayed overnight at the Nagaon Circuit House, today addressed a rally at Borghat. Targeting the Prime Minister, Gandhi said that Modi is good at marketing, but he has failed to deliver goods to the citizens.

The AICC vice president praised Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for running a successful government during the last 15 years. The BJP is the root cause of all problems emerging in the society, he added.

I did not criticise Modi; I only raised the issues of the death of Rohith Vemula, false charges levelled against Kanhaiya Lal of JNU, etc., in Parliament. But in reply, the Prime Minister criticised me personally, Rahul said.

During the UPA regime, Assam was a Special Category State which got special financial assistance and employment opportunities, but the Modi Government has stopped all such facilities, Gandhi added.

The Congress leader also visited the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya here and exchanged views with the teachers and students of the varsity, including its VC, Dr KK Deka.

He urged the people to follow the ideals of Sankaradeva and Ajan Fakir to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Members of the Sankar Sangha also felicitated Rahul Gandhi at the university campus.

It may be mentioned here that Gandhi started his padayatra from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi here to Borghat. On the way, he met the members of State Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind at Nagaon Iddgah. Addressing the Jamiat workers, Gandhi maintained that the BJP and RSS controlling the politics of the country was detrimental to the progress of the country. Rahul criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his anti-people attitude.
