By SPl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, May 17 After facing the wrath of scribes in Guwahati, Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh today faced the ire of Subhash Sen, a trade union leader, over the killing of All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) leader Gangaram Kaul in Assam.

Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge was heckled at the inaugural session of 45th session of Indian Labour Conference here today when Sen, Assam State Secretary of AICCTU demanded a reply from the Prime Minister on the alleged inaction of the Assam government, despite promising a CBI probe into the killing of his colleague in March.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and top officials faced embarrassing moments, when Sen interrupted Kharges speech to lodge his protest.

The disruption caught everyone by surprise as Kharge tried his best to stop the union leader. The Minister had just begun to deliver his address, when Sen sprang up from his seat at the Vigyan Bhawan here condemning the assassination of Kaul.

Sen said Kaul was fighting for the tea garden workers in Assam and was allegedly killed by Congress goons on March 25.

There was a State wide bandh following the incident and on April 1, the Chief Minister promised a CBI probe in the State Assembly. But it is now more than one-and-half months and Gogoi has not yet found time to send a formal letter to the investigation agency, he later told newsmen.

However, the Minister chose to ignore Sen and press ahead with his speech. The episode lasted a couple of minutes before the Prime Minister began his address.
