By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Aug 14 - The Cachar district administration has appealed to the people of the district to step up the pace of submission of NRC forms well within August 31, to avoid the last minute rush.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner S Vishwanathan said that 64 per cent NRC forms have been submitted so far. People must submit their forms within August 31. The guidelines on NRC set by the Supreme Court shall be followed and the mobile NSKs will reach to the people in places, which are on the remotest edge of the district, to collect and process their forms. Also, to facilitate the submission process, e-forms have been introduced which allows the people to fill and submit their forms even offline, Vishwanathan said.

Asked on the non-availability of receipts after the submission of forms, Vishwanathan assured the people that they will be given their acknowledgement receipts within the last date of submission. Moreover, he said that people whose names are in the foreigner tribunal must also submit their forms. People can collect their forms from the office concerned and submit, he added.

ADC SN Singh, who is the in-charge officer for NRC in the district, and District Project Supervisor Rajiv Kumar Jha also answered various queries during the media interaction. Jha said that problems faced by the people living in the villages, which are not covered by the NRC software, shall be addressed with priority. It is to be noted that some of the villages of the district have been reported to have been kept out of the software connectivity.
