Players Welfare Fund formed

SILCHAR, Feb 2 - In a first of its kind, District Sports Association (DSA) Silchar has come up with a players� welfare fund to extend financial assistance to its players during medical or professional pursuits.

On the occasion of felicitating the Under-16 team for winning the All Assam U-16 RG Baruah Cricket Tournament held at Morigaon in January this year, DSA president Babul Hore informed that the fund has been a long pending thought keeping the players� interest in mind. He was quick to inform that already Rs 51,000 has been credited to the fund courtesy donations coming from Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, former MP Sushmita Dev, AGS Sports (Major) of the association Arijit Gupta, noted social worker Kanad Purakayastha and Rajit Roy.

Moreover, Sushmita Dev has extended a financial support of Rs 85,000 to the winning team from the Socio-Cultural Educational and Sports Development Fund and on his personal behalf Hore has given Rs 1,000 each to the players, coach and manager of the victorious team.
