Players revolt against Sikkim football body

By A Correspondent

GANGTOK, Sept 11 - Several State and national-level footballers of Sikkim have decided to boycott the annual Santosh Trophy camp, alleging decline of football in the State due to alleged inefficiency and negligence on the part of the Sikkim Football Association (SFA).

The footballers under the banner of the Football Players Association of Sikkim (FPAS) have demanded the resignation of the executive committee of the SFA, alleging that it has used the footballers as cash cows.

Over 120 players of Sikkim have extended their support to the FPAS, headed by noted footballer Nirmal Chettri. Chettri, who is the FPAS president, demanded that the SFA executive members must resign to make way for younger players to check the decline of football in the State.

The players alleged that the SFA has failed to hold proper camps for footballers and also slammed it for not being able to hold local league matches, including the State league.
