SILCHAR, Oct 4 - Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Silchar will celebrate 75 years of Durga Puja celebrations this year. Ahead of the platinum jubilee celebrations, officers and staff were seen busy in their chores at the premise of the office of the General Manager at Dhakaiapatty to make the ensuing occasion a memorable one.
YK Bansod, general manager of BSNL Silchar, on Saturday said that it is a moment of double joy for everyone associated with the telecom company. Alongside the platinum jubilee year of the Durga Puja here, BSNL will complete 18 years since its transformation from the Department of Telecommunication on October 1, 2000. �We are committed towards the valued customers and as a part of the celebrations, we have taken up a number of initiatives to augment our service with smile campaign. On the day of Mahalaya, we shall take out a rally from our office premises with tableaus. Also a road show is being planned which would spread information among the people about what BSNL has in store for them. We are also starting a door-to-door initiative wherein our officers and staff would approach people and take note of their problems regarding our services and offer solutions,� Bansod said. He was quick to inform that BSNL will soon come up with 4G services here as well.
Elaborating more on the celebrations, Saumitra Das, accounts officer of the government enterprise and also the treasurer of the Puja committee, said that they are making efforts to portray a rural ambiance in their Puja pandal and the idol would be 18 feet in height. �We have been celebrating this Puja since 1944 and over the years, the celebrations have been heartwarming. We make arrangements for mahaprasad on all three days and this year also there would be special arrangements for devotees and pandal hoppers. The jubilee celebrations would be inaugurated by the Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan on the morning of Mahasashti. Also, we shall reach out to the underprivileged people with our humble efforts to bring smiles on their faces during the festive days,� Das added.
Kaustav Chakraborty, (AGM Mobile and Marketing) informed that among all the SSA�s Silchar has the highest base of subscribers in the State and hence the 18th anniversary celebration assumes significance. Tuhin Das (JTO), Satrajit Dhar, (SDE) both joint secretaries of the Puja committee along with executive members of the committee Rene Naorem (DGM Planning and Administration), Siv Kumar (AGM Administration) and Sankar Das (SDO) urged the former staff and employees of BSNL office here to take part in the jubilee celebrations.
