JAGIROAD, Oct 9 - A day-long programme on �plastic free village� under Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign-2019 was organized by the lndira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) Study Centre, Jagiroad College in association with �Diamond�, an NGO situated at Oujari in Morigaon District on recently .

Attending the programme as a distinguished guest, Dr Bhupen Kr Sarma, head of the department, Economics, Jagiroad College delivered a valuable lecture on harmful effect of single-use plastic. He urged the gathering to boycott plastic use and to think for an alternative to plastic.

Earlier, Dr Chitta Ranjan Sarkar, Coordinator IGNOU Study Centre Jagiroad College, who is also an Associate Professor of Chemistry of this institution spoke on plastic-free village campaign under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. He also urged the participants, specially students and youths to take advantage of the single-use plastic ban with new innovative ideas.

Earlier Mihir Biswas, Secretary, Diamond, introduced the speakers with the village people. Organizing Secretary of the NGO Biswajit Bordoloi offered vote of thanks.
