SHILLONG, Sept 11 - Over 70 BSF personnel from the Meghalaya Frontier today attended a camp here to screen their plasma.
According to the BSF, the plasma donation camp was organised by the BSF Meghalaya Frontier, in collaboration with the State Health Department and the NEIGRIHMS, at the BSF Camp in Umpling.
�Plasma screening of 70 recovered personnel of the BSF Meghalaya Frontier was done. Their plasma will be tested at the NEIGRIHMS and convalescent plasma will be taken for treatment of others,� BSF spokesperson UK Nayal said.
He added that the volunteers came forward after recovery from COVID-19 to donate plasma for the noble cause of saving precious lives. Nayal also stated that the BSF has delivered rations, medicines, masks and sanitizers to needy people of border areas across Meghalaya during the lockdown.
The BSF battalions are also helping the civil administrations and NGOs in conducting relief works to contain the virus. �It is our duty to help the most vulnerable section of the border population and the BSF is determined to continue its efforts,� Nayal said.
Meanwhile, the Director of NEIGRIHMS, P Bhattacharjee, said that it is difficult to find eligible plasma donors around the country, but the BSF has set an example, which would be a boon in fighting the pandemic.
