Plantation prog held in Tapesia

GUWAHATI, May 7 - A mass awareness cum plantation programme was organised by the Prabodh Chandra Sharma Memorial Trust at the Brahmaputra Jungle Resort in Tapesia on May 5, stated a press release issued here on Tuesday.

As part of the programme, a lecture on the topic �Forestation � A unique success story� was organised, where Padma Shri recipient Jadav Payeng � popularly known as the �Forest Man of India � spoke on how he single-handedly built a massive forest in Majuli. He emphasised on the urgent need to create mass awareness among school children.

A plantation drive was launched with a target of planting 10,000 trees around Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary in Tapesia for the benefit of wild animals. Padma Shri recipient Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah, Subodh Chandra Sharma and Maromi Payang Sarma also attended the event.
