Plane with medical supplies to fight Covid-19 lands in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, March 30 - A C-130 Super Hercules plane of the IAF with emergency medical equipment, personnel protective equipment, hand sanitisers etc. landed in Dimapur today to help combat Covid-19 in Nagaland.

This is the second consignment, which also includes equipment for disaster management and emergency requirements for all the districts of the state, to have reached the state in preparation to combat the endemic.

�C-130 Super Hercules aircraft landed at Dimapur with the second consignment of emergency equip. & also equipment for disaster mngt. through the support of @IAF_MCC,� Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio tweeted.

Rio said the state government would ensure that it reaches every district in Nagaland on time. He said the state had received medical equipment consisting of triple layer masks, personnel protective equipment, BD universal viral transport and swab sticks and additional medical equipment.

He added that 33 ventilators are also expected within this week.

The state health and family welfare department said there are 173 isolation beds available for any possible Covid-19 cases in the state in addition to 175 isolation beds in identified Covid-19 hospitals. The number of quarantine facilities has been increased to 1,043 in the state.

The department also said all the 22 samples which were sent for testing till Sunday tested negative for coronavirus. Nagaland sends swab samples of suspected patients either to Dibrugarh in Assam or Imphal in Manipur since the state has no testing laboratory.
