Plan for FIFA U-17 World Cup

GUWAHATI, Sept 15 - The district administration has handed over responsibilities to different departments to carry out plans for safety and security arrangements for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Accordingly the Sports and Youth Welfare department will be primarily responsible for preparation and planning of the disaster management plan for the World Cup. District administration will provide departmental DM plans from concerned agencies for incorporation in the Comprehensive Disaster Management Plan.

The departments like F&ES, NDRF, Health Services, APDCL, PWD and Electrical Department are asked to prepare their DM plans both for main venue and practice venues considering possible threats like crowd clash, fire, electrocution, hoax call and lastly earthquake, among others. APDCL, F&ES, PWD(B), PWD Electrical Departments have been asked to conduct safety audits of the main venue and practice venues and issue safety certificate. They have also been asked to conduct safety audit of Hotel Taj Vivanta where the accommodation of the delegates and players have been arranged.

The resolutions were taken in a meeting held today, stated a release.
