GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - Demanding immediate intervention of the authorities in a case of COVID-related social discrimination in Guwahati, a complaint has been registered at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) by a city-based activist.
As per the complaint, the family members of a COVID-19 patient in Pandu area of the city are facing abuse and discrimination from their neighbours, against which a police complaint has also been filed at the Jalukbari Police Station.
�Bikram Biswas of New Colony, Pandu, whose wife was found COVID-19 positive and is undergoing treatment the GMCH, has been subjected to mental and physical harassment by his neighbours because of his wife�s health conditions. Though a police complaint has been filed by the aggrieved against one Mono Pasowan and others, it has been of little help for the victim and his children,� the NHRC complaint filed by activist Yibeni Huntsoe has stated.
