GUWAHATI, July 25 - The Amrit MR and Investors Protection Society has moved the Gauhati High Court with a public interest litigation (No. 46/2015) praying for steps against the alleged swindling of the poor investors by the Amrit Project authorities.
In a statement, the society has alleged that the Amrit Project has fleeced the poor depositors of the State by around Rs 300 crore by setting up its headquarters at Ulubari area of the city in 2005 and since 2013 the authorities of the project stopped paying any maturity return to the depositors.
The project authorities have now closed down all their offices located in the NE region. Following this, the society was formed to pave the way for refund of the depositors hard-earned money. But the managing director of the Amrit Project has turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the society to refund the depositors money, which compelled the society to move the Gauhati High Court, stated a press release here.
