GUWAHATI, Oct 27 Train services were severely disrupted for almost five hours this morning following blockade of railway track by protesters at Tetelia station.

Hundreds of picketers belonging to Amri Karbi Association blocked railway tracks at Tetelia station near Chandrapur under the Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) from 4 am to 8.40 am today. The agitators were demanding autonomous council and ST status. As a result of the blockade, normal train running was disrupted affecting hundreds of passengers, Maligaon-based NFR said in an official communiqu.

A number of trains were detained or controlled at various stations by NFR due to the blockade. Among these were the 15604 Down Intercity Express, the 12423 Down Rajdhani Express, the 15960 Down Kamrup Express, the 15910 Up Avadh Assam Express, the 15817 Up Rajya Rani Express, the 12067 Up Jan Shatabdi Express, the 55601 Up Kamakhya-Lumding Passenger, and the 55604 Down Moirabari-Guwahati Passenger detained for 130 minutes at Chaparmukh.
