GUWAHATI, Dec 26 - The Physics Olympiad-2017 of the Assam Physical Society (PO-APS, 2017) for students of 10th and 12th standards was conducted successfully on December 24 for the first time, said Dr Kushal Kalita, vice-president of the Society in a statement here today.
In the first phase, it was conducted at four centres � Pub-Kamrup College, Rangiya College, Pandu College and Bajali College. Application forms were received from about 350 interested candidates from all over the State and about 315 of them turned up during the examination.
The Pub-Kamrup College centre saw the most number of participants. The successful candidates will be presented cash awards and citation. However to receive this award, one should obtain the qualifying marks of 60 per cent. These students will also get the chance to participate in the national level examination. The media of the examination for the candidates were Assamese and English
The Olympiad was designed to promote larger application of science and to create awareness about its importance in one�s day-to-day life.
