Physicians� conference under way at Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Dec 22 - The 28th annual conference of the Association of Physicians of India, Assam State Chapter, got under way on Friday at the Dr John Berry White Auditorium of Assam Medical College (AMC) here.

The three-day scientific event titled �28th APICON Assam 2018�, which is also a Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity, is being hosted by the Dibrugarh branch of the Association of Physicians of India. The theme for the event is � �Teach, Train and Transfer.�

Over 400 participants are taking part in the three-day scientific programme, Dr AK Das, the organising chairperson of the event said while addressing newsmen at the OIL lecture hall of the medical institute.

Dr Das said that several medical practitioners from outside Assam like West Bengal, New Delhi, Kerala, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, have also come for the programme.

�Physicians serving in the remotest rural areas, including tea gardens are taking part in the scientific sessions to discuss some of the most common diseases of the region, and also to share their experiences in handling such outbreaks. The event is also an opportunity for the junior doctors and medical students to listen and learn from various experienced medical practitioners, medical specialists and medical researchers,� said Dr Das.

Dr BN Mahanta, the organising secretary of the event said that the conference will also involve paper presentation, workshops, panel discussions, poster presentation, debate, quiz, oration, public awareness programme, a marathon and general body meeting.
