Photography trip to Kamakhya tomorrow

GUWAHATI, June 23 - The Eco Tourism Society of North East is organising a trekking and photography trip to the Kamakhya Temple on June 25.

The photography tour is an annual event of the non-governmental organisation, organised on the auspicious occasion of Ambubachi Mela. The main objective of the tour is to promote Assam tourism at a global platform.

The tour will start from the foothills of Nilachal Hills and the meeting point will be Viswakarma Temple, located at Kamakhya Gate. Participants have been requested to reach the meeting point by 1.30 pm. All participants need to register online. There is no registration fee for the participants.

According to the organisers, last year 55 photographers participated in the event. The photographers were from different parts of India and North East. The participants also encouraged the locals to keep Nilachal Hills free from pollution and garbage.

�This year we are expecting around 80 participants. The event is also organised to generate required awareness among the masses regarding tourism promotion and development in a sustainable way,� said Gautam Dutta of the Society.

Financial literacy centre: On the occasion of Ambubachi Mela, the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank in association with the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration, has installed a financial literacy centre at the main gate of Bhutnath Muktidham, Bharalumukh here in order to market the different deposit and advance products of the bank.

The stall was inaugurated by NN Baishya, General Manager of the bank on Wednesday. The Regional Manager, Guwahati Regional Office along with other staff members were also present on the occasion.

For the benefit and convenience of the visitors and pilgrims, the bank has kept an arrangement at the stall for distribution of coins in lieu of high currency notes.
