Photography Day at Press Club

GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - The Assam Photojournalists� Association today celebrated World Photography Day 2020 by organising a photo exhibition showcasing some rare pictures of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika at the Guwahati Press Club (GPC).

The exhibition was inaugurated by well-known singer Manisha Hazarika and GPC president Manoj Kumar Nath.

Speaking on the occasion, Hazarika highlighted the importance of news photography and appreciated the role of photojournalists in reflecting various core issues of society.

She also recounted Dr Hazarika�s love for the art and how he liked to get photographed.

GPC president Nath dwelt at length on how photojournalists of the State have contributed towards the growth of media not just in India but across the globe.

Advocate BK Mahajan who was also present on the occasion, said that a good photograph can be several times more appealing than a thousand words.

GPC general secretary Sanjoy Ray said that they are planning to document the rich history of news photography in the State post Assam agitation.

The GPC also distributed customised T-shirts to all the photojournalists present at the function.

General secretary of the Assam Photojournalists� Association Rebo Bora gave the welcome speech, while its president Chinmoy Roy delivered the vote of thanks.
