Philanthropic act by bank officers

GUWAHATI, March 26 - The Canara Bank Officers� Association (CBOA) visited the residence of CRPF martyr Maneswar Basumatary at Kalbari in Tamulpur and handed over a demand draft of Rs 50,000 to Sanmati Basumatary, widow of late Maneswar Basumatary on Sunday, a press release stated.

Further, the CBOA decided to give a solatium of Rs 50,000 to each of the 40 CRPF families, not as a compensation for their loss, but as a reciprocation of goodwill and gratitude towards the selfless act of the martyred souls during their service to the nation.

It may be mentioned here that the Canara Bank Officers� Association (CBOA) is one of the largest trade unions representing officers community in the banking industry. CBOA had formed a movement called �CANPAL� with an objective to address social causes and to extend a helping hand to the needy and assist victims of natural calamities, disasters and terrorist attacks, the release added.
