PHD Chamber of Commerce holds meet

GUWAHATI, Sept 17 - The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised an event �Launching the North-eastern Region Chapter�, at Hotel Vivanta by Taj in Khanapara here on Friday, a press release stated today.

The programme was attended by entrepreneurs from all the states of the North East, and government officials.

Dr Ranjeet Mehta, principal director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the work of the regional office in the last three years since its establishment in 2015.

Anil Khaitan, president of the business body, highlighted the overall work the PHD Chamber has been doing over the years and also its future roadmap for the development and prosperity of the North East.

Mahesh Y Reddy, secretary general designate of the body, highlighted the need to strengthen MSMEs of the region.

Gautam Sarma, co-chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, NER, gave a brief description of the programmes and seminars on different sectors like agriculture, horticulture, infrastructure and many socio-economic-related matters, organised by the NER committee in the past three years, touching all the eight states of the region.

Pabitra Buragohain, president and director, Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region, gave a brief description of the work they have been doing to uplift entrepreneurs and MSMEs of the region.

E Blah, preident, North East Tourism Confederation, highlighted the various possibilities of increasing the economy of the region through tourism.

Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister for Fisheries, Excise, Environment and Forest, who was the chief guest, highlighted the works the Central and State governments have been doing to uplift the socio-economic status of Assam and the North East.

Bhaskar J Gogoi, Co-Chairman, PHD Chamber of commerce and Industry, NER Committee, requested entrepreneurs to come forward and avail the assistance provided by the government and other agencies for the development of the region. The programme also had a brainstorming interactive session.
