NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 10 - Phaat Bihu, the unique cultural extravaganza of Lakhimpur�s Dhakuakhana got under way in Mohghuli Chapori from today with participation of people coming from various parts of the State.
The three-day festivities began today with the hoisting of the flag by Pradeep Chamuah. This was followed by the swahid tarpan by Monica Patir, president of the organising committee.
Various Bihu troupes were led up to the venue under a sishu tree plantation comprising 28 bighas of land on the inaugural day. The stage of the programme was inaugurated by Dr Girin Gogoi, retired Principal of Dhakuakhana College.
Competitions for Toka Bihu and Bihu for the young were also organised on the first day of Phaat Bihu. The celebration will come to an end on Sunday.
