Petroleum conservation workshop held at Tezpur

TEZPUR, Oct 11 - A day-long workshop on petroleum conservation was held yesterday at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tezpur Napam campus.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Promod Chandra Deka, Head, KVK, Sonitpur. Dr Pankaj Baruah, Director NERIWALM, Tezpur, elucidated the measures by which the use of petroleum in agricultural operations may be minimised and energy conserved thereby for the benefit of the society. He also emphasised on different techniques for minimising household fuel consumption.

Delivering his lecture as resource person, Dr Deben Baruah, Professor, Department of Energy, Tezpur University elaborated the use of solar and biological sources of energy in agricultural and household consumption. He emphasised the use of farmer-friendly and cost-effective farm machinery for the economic benefit of the farmers.

The workshop was attended by more than 35 farmers and farm women along with scientific staff of KVK, Sonitpur.
