By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

JORHAT, Jan 18 - The Jorhat district administration has directed all petrol pump owners here to fully adhere to the rules and regulations framed by oil companies for the benefit of customers as well as government and company officials.

An order issued by the Jorhat Additional Deputy Commissioner (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs), FR Laskar, today stated that it had come to the notice of the district administration that many oil depots in the district were not completely adhering to the Marketing Discipline Guidelines, 2013, framed by the oil companies under an Union Government Act.

The order, while listing out 18 guidelines issued by the oil companies, asked the oil outlets to follow these in toto. Putting up boards to display the price list and stock position in the outlets in a visible manner are among the guidelines.

The order also directed the outlets to ask their staff to provide quality service to customers and maintain good conduct. Proper sanitation, fire extinguishers, clean toilets, first aid and adequate lighting are among the services that should be available to customers.

Employees names, along with a phone number for lodging complaints and offering suggestions, should be properly displayed in the outlets, the order said. Failing to adhere to the guidelines will lead to initiation of action against the outlets as per the law, the order cautioned.
