People�s Day observed in Manipur

IMPHAL, Oct 25 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended to about 400 complaints and met around 1,200 people to hear their grievances in the joint �Meeyamgi Numit� (People�s Day) and Hill Leaders� Day at Durbar Hall of CM�s Secretariat here on Thursday.

�Meeyamgi Numit� and Hill Leaders� Day are organised by the State Government since May last year to hear the grievances of the public.

The Chief Minister personally attended to the complaints, according to DIPR reports. A large number of people turned up at the CM�s Secretariat since early morning today.

The officials of Health department and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences were there to attend to the people, who seek medical assistance, reimbursement and health care in Government medical hospitals.

Officials of other government departments were also deputed at the CM�s Secretariat to attend the visiting public.

Heroin recovered: A team of Manipur police stationed at Moreh recovered Rs 13.30 lakh worth contraband heroin number 4 powder during a raid on Thursday, police sources said.

Ten plastic soap cases containing heroin powder weighing about 133 grams and worth approximately Rs 13,30,000 in the international market was recovered from a house, the source added. A case has been taken up at Moreh Police Station and the arrested person along with the seized drug has been handed to the concerned authority. Meanwhile, a police team conducted search operation in and around Thangal Bazar and Majorkhul area in the heart of Imphal this morning and picked up more than 10 persons, the sources added.
