People urged to follow path shown by Mahatma

NAGAON, Oct 2 - The Nagaon district administration as well as various organisations of the district celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the father of nation and appealed to the people to follow the path that he once showed and set the nation as he dreamed.

Deputy Commissioner, Jadav Saikia, local MLA Rupak Sarma and other dignitaries early in the morning paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Shahid Bhavan following which a mass run was held for a plastic-free India throughout the town. Various competitions among children, sensitisation programmes for Swachha Bharat were also organised.

On the occasion four life prisoners of Nagaon central jail were freed. The freed prisoners are Pranab Bordoloi, Padum Bordoloi of Bebejia, Jintu Pator of Raha and Kumud Nath of Kuruwabahi.
