TEZPUR, Jan 2 - Tezpur wore a festive look on Friday as a large number of people, especially families, thronged different picnic spots to celebrate the New Year.
There are a good number of picnic spots in and around Tezpur town including Ganesh Ghat, Bhumuraguri bridge area, Mai Than area, Rudra Path, bank of the Gabharu river, Suti Pahar near Thelamara, Nameri, etc. For the last few years, it has been witnessed that people from far-flung areas come to these spots for enjoying picnic during the New Year. The first day of 2016 was also no exception, as a large number of people were seen thronging these naturally scenic places.
The major places of attraction within Tezpur town like the Agnigarh Park, Cole Park (Chitralekha Udyan), Owguri Hill, Mai Than, Bishnu Rabha Samadhisthal etc., maintained by the Tezpur Environment Society have all the necessary modern facilities for the visitors with lush green playgrounds for the children for the people coming to celebrate the New Year here from across the State. Visitors have urged the concerned authorities to take necessary measures to maintain these places of attraction
