People, organisations of Karbi Anglong offer flood relief

GUWAHATI, Aug 1 - The people and various social organisations of Karbi Anglong have extended their helping hand to the flood-affected people of the state.

Representatives of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), organisations of Diphu, and Baithalangso MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi on Thursday met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and handed him cheques for flood relief, stated a release issued here on Thursday.

The KAAC, represented by Tuliram Ronghang, Sum Ronghang, Joy Ram Engleng, Lunsing Teron, Mukut Mahanta, Prabhat Chandra Taro and Mahesh Chandra Chauhan, presented a cheque of Rs 5,81,108. The amount was a month�s salary of the KAAC members.

Various socio-cultural organisations of Diphu presented an amount of Rs 2 lakh.

Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang had earlier donated his one month�s salary of Rs 1.8 lakh for flood relief work.
