People irked over poor roads

By ANN Service

TIHU, July 25 - Most of the rural folk in Patacharkuchi, Barama and Dharmapur Legislative Assembly Constituencies feel that development, especially in road communication, has been a far cry in areas such as Tihu and Kaithalkuchi.

The Tihu Feeder Road from Tihu town to NH-31 (Tihu Chowk), Tihu-Gobaradal-Akhra PWD road, Tihu-Jalkhana-Sarthebari road and Tihu-Haribhanga-Kaithalkuchi PWD roads are in very bad shape. The Kaithalkuchi-Nalbari PWD road, Kaithalkuchi-Gobaradal-Barama PWD road and Kaithalkuchi-Chamata PWD road are also in deplorable condition.

In Patacharkuchi LAC, the Tihu Feeder Road which directly connects with the NH-31 is in a very bad condition. Three years ago, Patacharkuchi MLA Pabindra Deka had said that this road would be converted to a four-lane one. But till date, work has not started.

Flood in the Marapagaldia river has damaged several places along the Tihu-Haribhanga-Kaithalkuchi road at Bali and Haribhanga, while there are huge potholes in the Tihu-Gobaradal-Akhra road.

This has led to great resentment among the poor people, who have once again appealed to the authorities and MLAs Pabindra Deka (Patacharkuchi), Maneswar Brahma (Barama) and Chandra Mohan Patowary (Dharmapur) to take immediate steps to help them out.
