HAFLONG, Jan 3 - The people of Dima Hasao in general and Diyungbra in particular have expressed their overwhelming joy and happiness over the Chief Minister�s declaration of a new civil subdivision in Dima Hasao with its headquarters at Diyungbra.
Expressing happiness and satisfaction, Mayanan Krmprai, former chairman and also a former executive member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council, offered his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who had considered their plea for creation of a new civil sub-division in Dima Hasao. He said that they have been approaching the Government with the plea to create a civil subdivision since 1986 under the banner of Diyungbra Jalairaoni Hosom.
Niranjan Hojai, Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council and also the local MAC from Diyungbra expressed his satisfaction over the creation of a new civil subdivision at Diyungbra, which was a long-pending demand of the people of this area.
Mention may be made here that the Dima Hasao had got the status of a full-fledged district in 1972 with a lone subdivision at Haflong and in 1986, the Maibang sub-division was established. But it took at least 30 years to get this Diyungbra civil sub-division.
The people of Garampani, who have also been demanding the creation of a civil sub-division since 1980 with the second largest population of the district and strategic location, have failed to get their demand fulfilled.
