People hail smart city status to Udalguri, Tangla

UDALGURI, July 23 � The people of Udalguri town have hailed the goodwill decision of the Modi government at the Centre to upgrade Udalguri and Tangla as two of the proposed hundred smart cities in India.

Talking to this correspondent, a small vendor said that they too would be able to avail the facilities under the smart city norms as it was meant to upgrade the lifestyle of the people equipped with all modern technology.

Hailing the decision, Rihon Daimari, MLA of Udalguri LAC said that if Udalguri and Tangla were brought up as smart cities, �we would be the luckiest as these two towns were already gripped with a lot of problems.�

He said Udalguri and Tangla are backward in many respects as �we don�t get enough fund to develop them, but now with the facilities of smart cities, our present and future generations would make the best use of it.�

Welcoming the �healthy decision� of the Union Government, Prodeep Kumar Daimary, MCLA of Bhairabkunda BTC constituency, said that the people of Udalguri and Tangla are really lucky to be honoured with a modern set-up in their townships. He hoped that the smart city should include Bhairabkunda as one of the major tourist destinations in the country.

In the same way, Deepak Nirla, general secretary of the Udalguri district committee of the Assam Gorkha Sammelan, hailed the Union Government�s decision to upgrade Udalguri and Tangla as smart cities and he hoped that it would help the residents to forget traditional wants they needed as they would avail all the facilities of modern urban life.
