People asked to follow road safety rules

DHUBRI, Feb 6 - The observation of 30th National Road Safety Week began in Dhubri from Monday with a rally by the State Government officials and students to create awareness about the safety measures to be taken on roads. The rally that covered the entire Dhubri town, stressed on wearing of helmet and tying of seat belts.

According to the officials, the people of Dhubri rarely follow these driving rules. They also informed that reckless driving has increased in the towns of the district and due to increase in vehicles and lack of knowledge of driving rules among the new drivers there has been an increase in the number of accidents.

One the occasion, an awareness meeting was also organised by the DTO, where students of almost all the schools of Dhubri town participated. The meeting was attended by DTO Apurva Karzi, DDC Banashree Nath, Panchayat CEO Puravi Konwar and BN College Principal Dhruva Chakraborty as chief gusts along with many other dignitaries.
