GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - The Guwahati branch of Govt Pensioners� Association will observe the 8th death anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika at the Pensioners� Bhawan, Chandmari from 2 pm, according to a press release issued today by Prof (retd) Balindra Kumar Sarmah, president of the Guwahati branch.
Earlier, as a prelude to tomorrow�s celebration the Guwahati branch of Govt Pensioners� Association �instituted� a Bhupendra Sangeet competition among students of different schools of Guwahati on November 3.
On the occasion, Prof Sarmah highlighted the diverse activities of the association like holding literary meets, carrying out socio-cultural services like helping the people of old-age homes, helpless children and visiting their unhygienic abodes, taking care of the health of needy people through daily treatment by doctors and free medicines, etc.
