Peasant leader takes a dig at Rockybul

NAGAON, Aug 9 - Taking a dig at senior Cabinet minister Rockybul Hussain, the president of the Krishak Shramik Unnayan Parishad, Asam (KSUPA), Pradip Kalita, said that the minister should lodge a case against the corrupt officers of the Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development Departments.

While addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Kalita said that following the allegation of the KSUPA, five agricultural development officers in Goalpara district were arrested and lodged in jail. The other 110 officers of the department were evading arrest allegedly with Hussain�s help, Kalita added.

Hundreds of job card holders had lodged complaints in different parts of the State about the corruption in the Department of Rural Development, which was a clear proof of rampant fraud going on in his (the minister�s) department, Kalita said.

It may be mentioned that, the minister had lodged a complaint against Kalita at Dispur police station in a black mailing case. Rejecting the allegations, Kalita denied the charges.

The KSUPA demanded a CBI probe into the alleged corruption going on in the Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development Departments. It is are also planning to hold a protest at Dispur Last Gate tomorrow.
