IMPHAL, Oct 2 - A silent march was taken out here today by Progressive Manipur (PM), an NGO, from Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground. It passed through the streets of Imphal opposing the bandh culture in the State. Youths in white T-shirts participated in the march in large numbers.

We would like to put an end to the bandh culture in Manipur as each one of us in the State is affected by such kind of protests directly or indirectly. This will continue for generations to come if we do not act now, said secretary of PM, in a statement.

Regarding the silent march, the statement added, This is purely to find other means to protest without hampering daily wage earners, schools, entrepreneurs and the general public so that we can work towards a better Manipur.
