Peace, harmony must for development: Hagrama

GORESWAR, Nov 1 � Addressing the inaugural function of the renovated and modernised Suklai Irrigation Project at the Suklai valley of Naokata in Baksa district recently, Hagrama Mohilary, CEM, BTC, Kokrajhar, stated that without peace there can be no development and to have allround development in BTAD peace and harmony are paramount.

It may be noted that Suklai Irrigation Project had been totally inactive since year 2000, resulting in the poor farmers of the entire Baksa and Kamrup districts being deprived of the irrigated water in their agriculture land. This project, installed in 1977, had been functioning till 2000. The BTC administration started its renovation and modernisation work in 2005-2006 with development fund under the BTC to the tune of Rs 8,12,72,000. The modernised project covers an area of 16,800 hectare belonging to 86 villages.

The inaugural function was chaired by M Emanuel Mooshahary wherein Banamali Boro, Muninsingh Brahma, Pabitra Kumar Boro, MCLA Goreswar constituency, Ganesh Kachary, EM, Suklai Serfang, Madan Mohan Mooshahary, EMGM, BTC etc, took part as guests. The Bibekananda Kendra (Trust) at Suklai was also inaugurated by H Mohilary in presence of its vice-president Balakrishna while the CEM inaugurated 30-bed Jogendra Nath Basumatary Memorial Hospital at Suklai.
