NEW DELHI, March 25 - The Press Council of India has advised state governments to take necessary actions to ensure smooth functioning of the print media and news agencies in view of Covid-19 outbreak.
In a statement, the PCI said at this critical juncture, ensuring uninterrupted operation of printing press, facilitation of functioning of media persons and distribution of newspapers and magazine is vital. It is essential that media houses be facilitated with the required support for continued dissemination of information not only to create awareness among people but also for keeping the nation updated of the latest status related to COVID-19 outbreak, it said.
The PCI�s direction to the State Government follows reports from various parts of the country that distribution of the newspapers and magazine has been hampered because of the prevailing lockdown in the country, said PCI sources.
