An awareness meet was held on the occasion at Zoihing Karam Bhawan which was organised by the district Public Health and Engineering Department. Addressing the public on the occasion, Jadav Payeng spoke on Clean & Green Village mission initiated by My Gov Assam.
He appealed to the public and younger people as well as the students community to save the environment from being destroyed by man-made advancements. He also asked them to inculcate the habit of planting one tree every day instead of spending much time and money for such things only on specific occasions.
Payeng, who has invited international recognition for single-handedly creating and selflessly nurturing a forest on a sandbar off the Brahmaputra near Jorhat, said there was no alternative to plantation in order to combat global warming and climate change.
