Patowary holds coordination meet with NE PSUs

DIBRUGARH, Sept 17 - In an effort to build business coordination among the various public sector units of northeast and thereby promote downstream industries, micro, small and medium enterprises and generate employment opportunities, Minister of Commerce and Industry Chandra Mohan Patowary held a coordination meeting with the officials of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer and Corporation Limited (BVFCL), Oil India Limited (OIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Assam Petrochemical Limited (APL), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and a few others at the administrative building of BCPL in Lepetkata on Friday.

Dr KK Dwivedi, Commissioner & Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner and Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Virendra Mittal, Managing Director, Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), Pallav Gopal Jha, Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh, Subashini Sankaran, Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh and Chief Executive Officers of various PSU�s of the region along with senior officials attended the meeting, a release stated.

The minister also interacted with representatives of the PSU�s on issues and challenges faced by them while operating in the region. He expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing industrial activities in northeast and upcoming projects in the region. He further assured of extending full support to all the PSU�s in their business operations, the release added.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry later attended a handholding workshop at Hotel Natraj here on promotion of Plastic Park in Tinsukia and allied industries in the region. AIDC in association with FICCI and BCPL organised the handholding workshop. The workshop was organised to generate awareness among prospective entrepreneurs about the facilities available in the Plastic Park at Tinsukia and also explore possible investment opportunities in Plastic sector.

Speakers at the workshop included Manish Khandelwal from GAIL, KJ Ghai, Director, CIPET, Guwahati, Partha Mukherjee, Regional Manager, Lohia Corp and several others. The workshop was attended by some 150 entrepreneurs, businessmen and a few students.
